This spring Helsinki Think Company will organize a three-week online challenge called PlanetA. The challenge focuses on co-creating solutions to live on this planet more sustainably. What is this challenge and why should you take a part in it? Read 5 reasons from below.

1. A chance to put your time and effort into climate work despite the exceptional circumstances

Currently, COVID-19 causes far-reaching problems to the world where we live in. While the negative impacts of the COVID-19 are very real it still doesn’t stop the climate crisis and the fact that we need to find new ways to live if we want to keep our Mother Earth viable.

While the virus makes us all sit at home, some of us have more time in their hands than ever before. PlanetA is your chance to put that time and your skills and expertise for creating solutions for a more sustainable future. We will provide tailored mentoring, guidance, and new contacts. You will have everything you need to make a positive environmental impact.

2. Learn how to work in an online environment

Since the challenge is held online, you will learn how to work in a new environment. Workshops and teamwork will take place in online platforms such as Zoom and Slack.

Even though these platforms might be familiar to you from your studies, you will now learn how to accomplish a complete project from the beginning to the end in an online environment. At the same time, you will learn how to network and build professional relationships remotely. These are essential skills in a world where your future colleague might live on the other side of the world.

3. Learn a lot about climate-related themes

PlanetA revolves around two main themes – environmental education and limited resources. During the challenge, you will participate in 8 workshops held by professionals. During the 3-week online challenge, you will learn a lot about main themes and how to find solutions to the issues related to them.

In addition, you will learn a lot about themes that will be valuable to you in your future academic and working life. Workshops will teach you, for example, problem-solving skills, storytelling, branding, team working skills, and crystallization of your ideas.

4. Have a chance to put academics to action

We believe that any kind of study will give the kind of expertise that will be useful when creating solutions for a more sustainable future. During the challenge, you will be a part of the multidisciplinary team where each of you will bring their own understanding to the pool, so you don’t need to be an expert on everything.

With this challenge, you will be able to utilize knowledge from your studies into action. You will be left with an idea of how to work towards a more sustainable world in your own field of study.

5. Get an inspiring experience

As you can see from above, this online challenge will be one of a kind experience. You will gain new friends, empowering experience, and a lot of food for thought.

Workshops, people with different backgrounds, professional mentoring, and in the end a concrete solution for saving the world created by you and your team. What could be more inspiring?

Apply by May 6!
